Description

rocky’s matcha Shirakawa Ceremonial Blend pairs a gentle floral freshness with a rich umami profile throughout each sip. Our latest ceremonial blend has been carefully crafted with award-winning tea producer Kiyoharu Tsuji. Each batch is comprised solely of first-harvest (“Ichibancha”) leaves, sourced directly from the historic tea farms in Shirakawa, Kyoto, then carefully stone-milled to ensure a crisp smoothness. 

This marks our second ceremonial blend matcha made in partnership with fifth-generation tea farmer Kiyoharu Tsuji. This particular blend has been harvested and produced from farms overseen by his son, Koko. It is made to be enjoyed everyday, by enthusiasts and those new to matcha alike.

    I’m new to matcha, but this tasted excellent to me. Color was a vibrant green, and the taste was smooth and not bitter. It has a subtle umami note that adds to the complexity of the flavor. I had it as an iced matcha, but will try it hot next. I love the clean feeling energy I get from drinking matcha in the morning. It keeps me alert without the jittery caffeine crash I get from coffee.
