Description

Crafted just for rocky's matcha, we are proud to offer a Shin Kazuho White Bamboo Chasen (matcha whisk) with custom blue & green colors made by artisans in Ikoma Takayama, Nara, Japan.

Takayama is a small village located in the northwest region of the Nara Prefecture in Japan. It is famous for being the only place in Japan where chasen, traditional Japanese tea whisks, are produced.

Each Takayama Chasen is handcrafted by a chasen master using locally grown bamboo. The art of crafting bamboo whisks has been passed down from one generation to the next for over five centuries.

Today, there are only 18 chasen masters who continue to uphold the once-secret techniques. Initially, the Takayama Chasen was crafted for the traditional schools of Japanese tea ceremony. However, it can also be used as an everyday tea utensil for whisking the perfect bowl of matcha or houjicha.
